Arizona Supreme Court’s order has made it mandatory to wear a GPS (global positioning system) for the sex offenders, considering a dangerous crime against children. According to the order, from now onwards, the sex offenders will have to pay almost $4 a day for the monitor and but for any hitch, they will have to put on the GPS device, which will give detail of their whereabouts.
Pima County Chief Probation Officer David Sanders said:
Any violations or travel limitations will be reported to the probation officer. Including being within a certain distance of an elementary school.
Probationers said that the order is not applicable to those who are already sentenced or on probation. The monitors download data to a satellite every few seconds on the offender’s exact whereabouts. Particular boundaries, which are applicable to individual offenders, could also be planned into the monitors like victims’ addresses.
