As reported by Japanese mass media, the elementary schools will make use of GPS/cell phones to locate the kids every six seconds. The move has been taken considering the upsurge in children’s murder and molestation cases.
The device, based on kids’ routines, will comprise many warnings and alerts functions, detect when a child is stuck in one place too long or at a place not intended and will send a warning mail with a voice notice to parents/guardians and school officials.
The system, before being expanded to about 100 others, is going to be tested through next March at three schools, which are affiliated with Osaka Kyoiku University.
