If you want to keep track of your running performance here is a system called Suunto X9i, which is claimed to help you along the way. Equipped with little fitness computers, the latest GPS wristwatch is capable of informing you on altitude, vertical speed, thermometer, atmospheric pressure, compass, and yes your location. Suunto has also of late brought about a software known as Suunto Trek Manager (STM).
With STM you can create routes on the maps you have uploaded, edit and erase existing routes, visualize the altitude profiles for your routes, analyze and plan your training, and keep a training diary. You can also create your own activity reports by adding photos and text to the profiles.
Thus the X9i does give a few performance data, however most of the time after you are through with your working out and have made upload of your data to your computer via STM. The small size and compactness of the X9i turns it into pretty sought-after.
