Tele Atlas recently unveiled almost 50 comprehensive 3D city maps to be utilized in navigation devices and location-based apps. The first Tele Atlas 3D city maps are to be rolled out in July 2007, comprising maps for main European cities like Berlin, London plus Rome. More European, U.S. and Asian cities are due to be unveiled in 2008.
Besides 3D mapping, Tele Atlas is also planning to texturize majority of the city centers, including landmarks and other famous constructions making it even simpler for visitors and tourists to familiarize themselves.
TeleAtlas’ 3D city maps encourage their presently obtainable 3D product, which consists of 1,000 landmarks in 30 European cities. Interestingly, the first GPS navigation system that will make use of TeleAtlas’ latest 3D landmarks is none other than the Pioneer’s of late delivered AVIC-HD3BT of which I have already talked about. This system has 518 European landmarks in twenty-one cities. Apart from all that Tele Atlas is also planning to launch over 1,000 3D landmarks for the United States in over 30 major cities in 2007.
